ok.. i just thought i'd post my term reports..

personal tutor report..

Yao Qun has made an excellend start to his study at Brooke House College and is generally considered one of the top students in the College. His teachers unanimously praise him for being a hardworking and highly motivated student, who seems to have a natural understanding of all his subjects. Also his attendance and punctuality leave no room for improvement. However, on a more negative note, all the teachers agree that the presentation of Yao Qun's work often lacks neatness and is not up to exam standards. In addition, he too often makes mistakes resulting from his rush and inattentiveness, which are insignificant as such, but might lead to him losing important marks in the exam.
Yao Qun should use the coming holiday period to revise throughly the material covered this term. All his teachers are confident that if only he maintains his effort in the remaining weeks of study and is extremly attentive and patiend when answering the exam questions, yao Qun is in a position to achieve A grades in June examinations in all his subjects.

English
Grade: A
Effort: 1
Academic Progress: YQ has made an excellent start to the course. He is hard-working and is prepared to set himself targets.
Future Action: His written work is of a high standard and will improve further as he becomes more famililar with essay requirements at thie level.

Chemistry
Grade: A (80%)
Effort: 1
Academic Progress: Yao Qun is an extremely able student. His mathematical ability is excellent which helps with the quantitative chemistry. We are aiming to complete all the first year examinations in June, although we have effectively started one term late. Hence there has been a great deal of pressure this term, with extra classes and extra homework. However, he has coped well most of the time.
Future action: The main task will be to complete as mmany examiination papers as possible. Mock examinations will be held at the start of next term and revision will need to be carried out during the holiday period.

Physics - AS
Grade: B
Effort: 1
Academic Progress: Topics covered during the term: Density, Pressure, effects of heating, changes of state, gas laws and kinetic theory, internal energy and the first law of thermodynamics. Yao Qun is a high grade student who is quietly confident of his ability. He has covered much of the course previously so most of his work is of a high standard although he makes a few elementary mistakes. Possibly this is due to a lack of concentration; a case of familiarity breeds contempt. He should aim to gain A grades for his AS papers.
Future Action: Concentrate fully, even on familiar material. Aim for maximum marks everytime.

Maths C1 and C2
Grade: A
Effort: 2
Academic Progress: This term we have gone through all the units contained in the C1 and C2 books. As Yao Qun had already covered most of this material in the past, none of the subjects presented any major difficulties for him. Moreover, Yao Qun is a particularly bright student and seems to have a natural understanding of Mathematics in general. However, the presentation of his work often lacks neatnedd and is not up to examination standards. In addition, Yao Qun too often makes mistakes resulting from his rush and inattentiveness, which are insignificant as such, but will lead to him losing important marks in the exam.
Future action: Yao Qun should use the Easter break to review all material covered this term and to complete the excercises he lacked time to complete during the term. I am sure he is capable of achieving excellent grades in both the C1 and C2 exams, if only he remembers to be extremely attentive and patiend and he makes sure his wokr is presented neatly and clearly.

Maths (Mechanics)
Grade: A
Effort: 1
Academic Progress: YQ is a most able student who has made excellent progress this term. Two recent test results of 64% and 66%, represented a very good standard but were rather disappointing, as they do not reflect his potential.
Future Action: YQ needs to slow down a little when answering questions in order to avoid making careless mistakes. With thorough revision next term, he should be in a position to achieve a grade A in the June M1 examination.

AS Physics (Mechanics)
Grade: A
Effort: 1
Academic Progress: Excellent. A gifted student who is well up to this lavel of work and should be looking forward to the highest grade of pass in the external exams. YQ should really be faced with more challenging work in order to stretch his abilities to the limit. His comprehension is excellent and he has a very high standard of English, particularly in expressing himself verbally: a delight to teach!
Future Action: a revision package will be issued for over the coming Easter break and it is essential that YQ works through the package assiduously over the break. He must practice answering past paper questions also, paying particular attention to questions requiring a written answer. It is essential that this work is checked by his tutor note is taken where any improvements are suggested. YQ should feel free to bting to my attention any extra work eg. from exam boards other than Edexcel, that gives him a greated challenge. YQ has the potential to become a top grade Physicist and i would hope he tries to do so.

Chemistry
Grade: A
Effort: 1
Academic Progress: YQ is an able student who has a good understanding and knowledge of chemistry. He has attended all classes and done all the written work that I have set. When he encounters topics that he does not fully understand he always asks questions, many of which reflect his thoughtful appreach to his studies. At practical work he is proficient and completes is rapidly and accurately. There is every prospect that he will gain high grades in the examinations this summer.
Future Action: We have nearly finished teaching the syllabus for the three units which will be examined this summer, and most of next term will be devoted to a revision programme.
